Shawn Kispert
Most people walk into therapy nervous, guarded, and unsure who to trust. That makes sense.
They aren’t looking for perfection—they want to know you’re listening, that you understand, and that you’re willing to step into their story.
I keep my caseload small so I’m never rushed. That means I have the time and space to be fully present—no pushing, no hurrying through trauma. My job is to create a space that feels safe, steady, and human so real work can begin.
I listen closely. When anxiety or fear gets in the way, I ask simple, direct questions to help you move forward. Change is hard—but it is possible. No matter what’s been holding you back, you can live differently. We do this together—talking, listening, laughing, crying, and occasionally with a bit of chocolate along the way.
I work with the CMAT community (Certified Multiple Addictions and Trauma), the CSAT community (Certified Sex Addiction Therapy), and individuals carrying deep wounds from harmful church experiences.
I am EMDR trained and trust the process. I’ve done my own hard work, and I know how difficult healing can be. EMDR is powerful and effective if you’re ready to do the work.
Outside the office, I love animals, the beach, and any book I can get my hands on. I’m also a lifelong Chicago Cubs fan.
